Experience the best of Whistler in a sampling of each of your favourite summer activities. We have hand-picked the most impressive hiking routes, biking trails and pathways, and can show you the best places to dine at the end of the day before settling into a very comfortable lodge at the base of Whistler Mountain. Our trails bring us along the edge of beautiful alpine lakes, to the base of a glacier, through lush rainforest, amid alpine meadows, and atop mountains including the famous twin peaks of Whistler and Blackcomb. A free afternoon mid-week allows you to choose your own adventure, but we highly recommend a paddle on the 'River of Golden Dreams' or to get verticle on the Whistler Via Ferrata (Iron Way). We wouldn't blame you if you decide to extend your stay and keep exploring this gorgeous region just north of the beautiful city of Vancouver.
This itinerary is meant for active individuals who enjoy hiking and biking. Bike trails are mainly crushed gravel with some paved sections and some dirt sections. Trails wind up and down through the forest so riders must be comfortable on a bike and riding on rolling hills (as opposed to flat rail trails), but no mountain biking skills are required.
Make your way to your mountain home in beautiful Whistler. Exact location and group briefing time to be advised with final documents.
Located two hours north of Vancouver by way of the beautiful Sea to Sky Highway, Whistler is a world-renowned ski and snowboard destination in the winter but is also an absolute gem in the summer with an abundance of trails, alpine lakes, beaches, and a lively village scene. We make our home in a centrally-located and comfortable lodge at the base of Whistler Mountain.
After breakfast, enjoy a morning bike ride on paved back roads and quiet trails through the Whistler Valley. Ride around Lost, Alta, and Green Lakes enjoying incredible mountain views from handlebar level. After a picnic lunch, we continue pedalling along a meandering river, stopping often to photograph wildlife and wildflowers, then continue on the Sea to Sky Trail, a multi-use section of TransCanada Trail that extends all the way to Squamish. We'll stay in the mountains though, and loop back to Whistler Village where we began.
Today we embark on one of the most beautiful day hikes in British Columbia. The forested trail provides views of the Cayoosh Mountains and takes us to the edge of three turquoise lakes - Lower, Middle, and Upper Joffre. The base of impressive Matier Glacier is where we enjoy a picnic lunch and perhaps an invigorating swim. Our return hike back down the valley unveils a new view as we continue through the rainforest and back to the trailhead. After a rewarding full day of hiking, we return to our comfortable accommodations to freshen up for the evening.
This morning we will head back out on the bikes and connect new sections of trail that line the Whistler Valley. Your guides will go over some more bike skills on the trail as we go deeper into the mountains on crushed gravel and dirt trails. Whistler is famous for it's biking and we will head out on some lesser-traveled routes away from the Village area. The afternoon is open for you to choose your own adventure. Your guides have lots of recommendations including kayaking/canoeing the River of Golden Dream, enjoying some lake time to relax, exploring the village or heading out for an afternoon hike.
Today we will head up to the top of Whistler Mountain! Boarding the Gondola in the morning, we ascend to the alpine and start our hike 5,000 feet above Whistler Village. After a short hike, we connect across to Blackcomb Mountain via the famous Peak-to-Peak Gondola. The alpine wildflowers that paint the side of this trail include Indian Paintbrush, Arctic Lupine, and Mountain Arnica. As the resident Hoary Marmots and Ptarmigan scamper for cover among the rocks, look out at the picturesque mountain setting atop Oboe Peak where your guides will create the ultimate alpine picnic. Be sure to keep an eye out for bears!
Whistler's newest hike is a local gem. The trail climbs through some beautiful coastal rainforest with great views along the way. This day trip allows us to “meet the mountains” and discover a piece of unspoiled nature, taking us back in time to the formation of this dramatic landscape. Upon reaching the alpine we will be met with open meadows, glaciers, cascading creeks and views of the Whistler Valley below. Tonight, we’ll have a final celebration dinner to commemorate a week’s worth of fantastic memories.
Sip coffee or cocoa and enjoy a leisurely morning before our trip into the Cheakamus Valley. A short hike takes us to a volcanic crater-turned-lake. Picturesque Loggers Lake is one of the best spots in Whistler to relax and take a swim. Lunch will be enjoyed lakeside while savouring the mountain views.
Mid-afternoon, we return to the village and say goodbye - Until next time. Either extend your stay or make your own way back to Vancouver via multiple daily shuttle services.
